Hello, 2024!

Hello, 2024! I hope this New Year has treated you well so far. As we step into the future, let's make preparedness a priority. At Sunshine Preppers, we believe in preparing while the sun shines, so when the unexpected happens, you can face it with confidence.

Preppers are normal people from all walks of life who want to be better prepared for any emergency life might throw their way to keep themselves, and loved ones, safe.  

Think about where you live. Are you prone to snow and ice storms, or perhaps the occasional blizzard? Maybe your region faces the threat of hurricanes, earthquakes, or floods. Each locale has its own set of challenges, but the underlying principle of preparedness remains the same.

I've personally experienced the impact of ice storms, where losing power became a reality. Thanks to having a propane heater, we stayed warm. However, the lack of a suitable way to prepare warm meals, due to an electric range, taught us a valuable lesson.

Now living in Florida, hurricanes are a part of life. Some we weather at home, others necessitate evacuation. I've seen the chaos at stores when people scramble for last-minute supplies, and I've also enjoyed the peace of mind that comes with being stocked up, equipped with a gas grill, a full propane cylinder, and a gas generator (with extra cans of fuel).  

Evacuations are a whole different challenge. I've been caught unprepared once, relying on a shelter for basic needs. It's a feeling I don't wish upon anyone. Being prepared makes a world of difference.

This year, our focus at Sunshine Preppers is on preparedness. We're going to begin with starting our emergency books - each person's essential guide to navigate any crisis. We'll delve into why having one is crucial and what to include in our books.  It is a project we will work on throughout the year.
